Join ASLA Oregon on Friday, November 3rd in downtown Portland for our Annual Awards Soiree and a festive evening celebrating our design community.
Our 2017 Design Awards recognize professional and student excellence by honoring the firms, individuals, and agencies responsible for outstanding works of landscape architecture and environmental planning that promote an enhanced quality of life in Oregon and beyond. Winners will be announced at the Soiree.
“We retooled our Design Award program this year in response to feedback from our members,” said Jean Senechal Biggs, President of ASLA Oregon. “In addition to establishing a new category to recognize community service, we created two categories for both residential design and general design to allow smaller projects a better opportunity to compete for awards.”
The evening’s event program also includes voting for the People’s Choice Award and recognizing the outstanding academic achievements of ASLA student award winners from the University of Oregon. We’ll also honor our chapter’s newest ASLA Fellow, Teresa Chenney, and acknowledge the state’s newest registered landscape architects. There’s lots to celebrate this year!
Thanks to our fabulous jury!
In early October, ASLA Oregon convened a jury with diverse landscape architecture, academic, and development expertise to review the submissions and deliberate the winners.
- Meghen Quinn, RLA, LEED AP, Principal, The Office of Cheryl Barton, San Francisco, CA
- Mark Garff, ASLA, PLA, Principal, SCJ Studio, Seattle, WA
- Anyeley Hallová, project^, Portland, OR
- Mark Johnson, FASLA, Founder, Civitas, Denver, CO
- Jolie Kaytes, Associate Professor, School of Design and Construction, Washington State University, Pullman, WA
This year, we received 9 student entries and 29 professional entries. It was an impressive showing of work in nearly all our categories that include general design, residential design, analysis and planning, transportation, communications, research, student projects, and community service. Jurors were impressed with the breadth of work, and praised the chapter for running an effective – and fun – deliberation process.
