Job Opportunities: Recreation Trails Planner

OPRD is seeking a highly motivated passionate recreation planning and design professional with specific experience in the field of trails planning and design. The ideal candidate will join our Salem based team in the execution of planning and design tasks for trail and recreation enhancement projects throughout the state.  If you are passionate about the outdoors, outdoor recreation and recreation design with a focus on trails we are interested in discussing this employment opportunity with you.

The primary purpose of this position is to work directly with the Planning + Design Manager, Planning + Design team members and OPRD’s field managers to plan, design and develop recreation facilities with a specific focus on trails that better serve Oregon’s citizens and visitors.

From time to time the Recreation Trails Planner may provide technical guidance, design review/input and public outreach support for trail projects being explored or developed throughout the state by recreation providers other than OPRD.  The Recreation Trails Planner may also be asked to represent OPRD in a staff support capacity for statewide councils or as an attendee or presenter at conferences, summits or other events with a focus on trails.

About our Team

The Planning + Design team works collaboratively with our engineering and stewardship sections along with our field managers to visualize recreation improvement design solutions that are responsive to the public needs as established through frequent public engagement efforts that include the Statewide Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan, the Oregon Trails Plan along with other recreation development guiding documents.  Our recreation planning professional also develop new park master plans in addition to updating the plans for our iconic parks throughout the state.
