ASLA Oregon is pleased to announce that we have partnered with the University of Oregon to hold the Urbanism Next Conference on March 5-7 of 2018. The Conference focuses on how we integrate emerging technologies such as autonomous vehicles and the sharing economy into the built environment. Together with architects, planners, developers, academics and ethicists, we will come together for presentations, sessions, and interactive workshops and charrettes.
ASLA Oregon wants to ensure that landscape architects have a prominent seat at the table for the dialogue, debate, and work shaping our future cityscapes.
Urbanism Next will offer continuing education opportunities for our members and allow interdisciplinary networking with local and national professionals.

Special Opportunity – Join the Program Committee – Help Select Conference Speakers!
We are looking for some interested members who will be a Program Committee for Urbanism Next. As part of the Program Committee, you will get the opportunity to meet folks from ASLA, APA, ULI, AIA, and the University of Oregon and help shape the Conference by reviewing session and workshop/charrette proposals. About half of the Program Committee will be asked to be coordinators for a workshop/charrette during the conference.
We ask that each committee member can commit to reviewing and rating session or workshop proposals at some point during the November 7 – November 15 window. Committee members are then invited to participate in a session and workshop proposal meeting on Friday, November 17 from 9 am to 11 am (in person or via Zoom).
If you volunteer to help with the workshop/charrette sessions, we will ask you to be the coordinator to one workshop/charrette and attend that workshop/charrette during the conference. These volunteers will need to participate in two meetings – one in early December to go over their duties and responsibilities and the second meeting in early February to discuss the requirements for your workshop and what to expect the day of the workshop.
Volunteers who are workshop or charrette coordinators will qualify for a reduced rate of $125 for the entire conference.
