This year, we welcome Jeff Tumlin as the Sustainable Cities Initiative 2017 Expert-in-Residence. This year’s EIR program is part of SCI’s Urbanism Next Research Initiative which is looking at how autonomous vehicles, e-commerce, and the sharing economy will affect city form, design, and development.
In this public lecture, Jeff will discuss potential positive and negative effects of autonomous vehicles as they begin to enter our cities. Jeff will explain how critical it will be to regulate autonomous vehicles in order to build a successful city of the future that is pedestrian friendly, and transit oriented. As a result, this will benefit human health & happiness for generations to come.
Jeff Tumlin is the Director of Strategy at Nelson\Nygaard and has led station area, downtown, citywide, and campus plans. He is currently leading the transition of Oakland’s first DOT for a strong and inclusive mobility system and is looking at the impacts autonomous vehicles will have on transportation systems in cities.
This event is free and open to the public. Reception to follow after lecture in White Stag
This lecture is sponsored on behalf of University of Oregon and the Sustainable Cities Initiative
