Presentation Description: The Rivers to Ridges Partnership is a voluntary association of 19 organizations working collaboratively to advance the protection, restoration, and management of open space resources in the southern Willamette Valley. The name Rivers to Ridges emanates from a 2003 regional open space vision which was endorsed by numerous stakeholder groups including the WV Section of ASLA and unanimously by local elected officials from the Eugene-Springfield area.
Through the combined efforts of our partners, a significant amount of what was envisioned in the 2003 Rivers to Ridges vision has been implemented! To build on this success and look toward what might be possible over the next 20 years, the Partnership has now launched a vision “Refresh” process and plan to have an updated vision developed by early 2023.
Jeff Krueger is coordinating the “Refresh” effort for the Rivers to Ridges partnership and will present an overview of the Rivers to Ridges vision, highlight major implementation accomplishments since 2003, and showcase several on-the-ground efforts. In addition, Jeff will provide an opportunity for meeting participants to share your personal open space vision and priorities for the future.
Presentation Learning Objectives:
1. Gain an understanding of the Rivers to Ridges Regional Parks and Open Space Vision
2. Learn about what has been accomplished over the past twenty years toward implementing the vision
3. Learn about several on-the-ground examples of vision implementation including land conservation, habitat restoration, and recreational facilities
4. Hear and discuss priorities for our region’s future park and open space system
