Description
Exacerbated by climate change, recent decades have been marked by a significant uptick in extreme weather events like episodic flooding, droughts, wildfires, heatwaves and other catastrophic events. What design strategies can we employ locally to help communities and built landscapes better withstand and recover from future extreme weather events? And thinking more broadly, what design strategies can we employ to better protect and regenerate the natural systems of resiliency that are key to mitigating the damage of climate change and extreme weather further down the line?
Join us for this hour-long live discussion to first analyze the principles of resilient design for buildings and communities and then explore resiliency through the broader lens of working with nature, as opposed to withstanding nature, to protect, regenerate and enhance a healthy ecosystem's natural services.
