The Willamette Valley Section is hosting a project tour of Riverfront Park with City of Eugene's own Emily Proudfoot.
The planning of Eugene’s Riverfront Park has been in the works for many years. It lies at the intersection of where downtown Eugene meets the Willamette River and has been privately held property until recently. Construction of the park started in May 2020 and is expected to be completed by spring 2022. Park improvements will include river overlooks, walking paths, the new section of bike path, decks, seating areas, stormwater treatment, new native vegetation and much more. The three-acre Downtown Riverfront Park, with adjacent one-acre public plaza, will be the heart of the greater riverfront development that reimagines a new, vibrant future and will, once again, unite our city with the river.
Emily Proudfoot has been a Landscape Architect for City of Eugene Parks for over 20 years. In that time, she has worked on park projects throughout the community and is currently managing the Downtown Riverfront Park project, a $14 million-dollar effort to connect Downtown Eugene back to the Willamette River. She also leads a team of five design professionals, manages the City’s Parks and Open Space Capital program, and is a member of the City’s Public Art Committee. Emily holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and is a painter in her free time.
Space is limited, free for members, RSVP required, LACES credits available.
Meet Thursday 5/19 at 3:30pm. Meet at EWEB headquarters buildings, where there is plenty of parking. Then, rain or shine, walk the park with Emily Proudfoot and end up at Tap & Growler for a happy hour social with snacks courtesy of our event sponsor Landscape Forms.
RSVP for the tour (reply to willamettevalley@aslaoregon.org) as there will be a limit to how many people can easily hear the speaker.
Free for members and students, $5 for non-members. All are welcome at the 5:00pm happy hour, but RSVP helps us get a head count as the room we've reserved also has a limit.
Special THANK YOU to LandscapeForms for sponsoring this event!
