Oregon ASLA and Idaho-Montana ASLA are continuing an ongoing partnership with the National Parks Service, through the Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program (NPS-RTCA) to lead a design charrette envisioning a future trail along the Snake River to connect the City of Ontario to the Snake River and to an existing trail network.
Are you experienced in trail design and planning? An expert facilitator? Knowledgeable in park planning? Great with graphics?
We invite you to join our design team for a two-day charrette April 14-15, 2023 in Ontario, Oregon. The City of Ontario has had the vision of a trail along the Snake River in their master plans for 30 years. The trail will connect the city to the river and to existing trails. Having secured, in the last year, ownership and agreements with land managers for the 3.2 mile corridor, the city is now stepping up community engagement to inform the design phase. The charrette will focus on public access to the city’s river corridor and nearby nature, with new trailheads, fishing and viewpoints, references to local industry and history, and challenges for the trail near highways and railroads. The event is expected to be held at Ontario’s Four Rivers Cultural Center.
The charrette provides a great opportunity for the landscape architecture communities in Oregon, Idaho, and Montana to gather together, learn from each other, and lend our expertise and abilities to envision the future of the trail along the Snake River.
We are seeking participants with a diversity of knowledge, skills, and abilities in all stages of their careers. Students, emerging professionals, mid-career, and experienced professionals are all encouraged to apply.
The charrette is scheduled for a day and a half:
Friday afternoon, April 14, and
Saturday, April 15, all day.
