Local arborist, author, and podcaster Casey Clapp of Completely Arbortrary is doing a tree walk with us! Join ASLA for a jaunt around the Buckman Neighborhood to see some of the incredible trees hidden away right in the center of town. We'll be talking about how trees interact with and affect an urban neighborhood, and how that neighborhood might affect the trees around it, too. Casey's a Board Certified Master Arborist with a passion for showing people the trees around them. He's a co-host and co-producer of the science podcast Completely Arbortrary, and he's wrapping up his first book, a tree identification guide for the common urban and backyard trees of the Great Pacific Northwest, expected out next year. There's no question you can't ask him (as long as it's about trees, of course...).
When: Meet at 5:30 pm on Thursday July 11, walk starts at 6:00
Where: Buckman Neighborhood, meet at SE 17th and Taylor St, the southwest corner of Colonel Summers Park
How long: We'll cruise for about 2 hours and end at Grand Fir Brewing for a cool down
Cost: Free! Tips appreciated for Casey, though
