Virtual Course- Playground Design

ASLA Oregon is honored to host Mara Kaplan on May 19th as she shares strategies for playground design that consider the specific needs of children with disabilities. She brings many years of experience working with children of all abilities and will shed light on key issues surrounding children with autism. With 3.5 million people in the United States living with an autism spectrum disorder, this topic has particular relevance for landscape architects today. This virtual workshop will explain the unique considerations for families bringing their autistic children to playgrounds. Ms. Kaplan will further explore how playground layout can positively impact a child’s visit. She will present ten key strategies to ensure a design supports a child with an autistic spectrum disorder. This course has been approved by LACES for 1 CEU.
